Then come on in to Mayzmusik Performing Arts Academy where our friendly team of teaching staff can guide you in the right direction and train you to any desired level.

Our studios are based in Abergavenny, the Gateway to Wales, set in the beautiful Usk Valley in Monmouthshire (Gwent). We offer private one to one tuition in: Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, Keyboard, Drums, Percussion, Saxophone, Flute, and Vocals, as well as offereing GCSE and A Level Courses.

GCSE's and A levels are available in Music, Dance And Business Studies. We Also have seperate Ballet Classes and run our own musical theatre company. We currently have 5 tutors who share 4 studios between them during the week. Each Studio is very modern and is equipped with the latest in music books, sound equipment and instruments. Each studio, whilst having its own unique use, is also flexible enough for other tutors to share when necessary.

Piano / Keyboard Lessons

Piano / Keyboard Lessons

All ages and all levels taught from age 7 to 70 (or older!), from beginner to advanced and whatever your taste in music, whether classical, rock, pop, jazz etc, we can accommodate your requirements. You can follow a structured programme leading to grades, or you can simply learn for pleasure, the choice is yours.

Classical grades are taken through the Associated Board of the Royal schools of Music (ABRSM), as are the jazz grades. But if your taste is more rock and pop, then we follow the Rockschool syllabus here at Mayzmusik. You can also take your grade right here too.

If you really don't want the pressure of learning scales etc but would like to know what standard you can play, then the London College of Music offer Leisure grades in Piano, especially good for adults who have come back to playing piano after many years but don't want to take it seriously.

Keyboard Tuition:

Again, all ages and levels taught and all musical tastes catered for. You can follow a structured programme leading to grades offered through the London College of Music, or follow a Leisure grade syllabus which concentrates more on pieces of music and use of your keyboard and less on the technical side of music, (often more popular with adults).

Learning Keyboards can be particulary good for adult learners as it can be quite a fast-track method of playing an instrument if you've never played before. It can also be a more encouraging way for the younger child to progress on an instrument and impress Grandma with their talent.

Lessons for both Piano and Keyboard are offered in private, one to one weekly 30-minutes sessions
Drum / Percussion Lessons

Drum / Percussion Lessons

Drum students can either learn for pleasure or can follow the Rockschool Exam Syllabuses. Students will be encouraged to explore different styles of music, performing along with CD's and eventually performing with other musicians.

Scott joined the Academy teaching team in October 2013 & has had some fantastic results from his students so far. Scott plays with several bands, including local covers band, Innovence. You can play all sorts of styles specialising in Rock, Jazz & Popular Music at the Academy.

As with all our lessons, we offer half hour weekly private tuition, where drummers of all ages and experience can be trained to achieve the individual goals that they want, and we personalise every lesson to suit each student.
