About the Business
Hi - My name is Jeff Chambers. I've been teaching guitar all my professional life which is a looooong time. Although I'm carrying an electric guitar in this picture I teach acoustic guitar too.
Most people are beginners. If you are a beginner, my goal is to give you the confidence that you need in order to progress under your own steam. Soon, you will be playing the songs you want to play!
If you've been playing for a while you may feel that you're stuck, doing the same things. I can help you in clarifying and demystifying the instrument so you can gain command over the entire neck of the guitar and thereby free up your playing.
I have a degree in Music, the Performers Diploma (LGSM) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Grade VIIIs from both Guildhall and Rockschool and a Cert Ed(FE). I have a current Enhanced CRB certificate.

Lessons
Lessons are generally one-to-one and of either 30 minutes or 1 hour duration. They are tailored to suit student requirements and in general take place here at my home. In some cases I will travel to the student's home.
You can do it for fun, or as a serious study. You can study plectrum or finger style. I can show you how to set up and re-string your instrument.
Following the grade syllabuses such as those offered by Rockschool is a very effective way of learning and developing your skills. You learn graded pieces as well as theory and music reading to the appropriate level.
I am a member of the Musicians Union and charge according to their basic teaching rates.
