Music is a dynamic art form. It moves the soul, stimulates the mind and engages the body. I believe that the piano provides us with the most comprehensive musical experience, requiring intellectual discipline, coordination and profound musicality.

I have studied at some of the world’s best music schools and performed at many globally renowned venues. My teaching experience spans more than 20 years working with students of all levels, from beginners to Diploma level, both young and old.

Sharing my knowledge, skill, experience and love for this wonderful instrument is my passion. For me, the enjoyment of teaching comes from empowering others to enhance their own appreciation of music, by continually raising standards.

Business Services

The Lessons

Lessons take place at my home in Edgware. I have a Yamaha Grand Piano which I use for teaching, so that students can learn on a quality instrument.

Booking-In:

New students attend a booking-in lesson, where I assess their current abilities at the keyboard and in the theory of music. We also discuss learning objectives, such as attaining certain grades, enhancing musical appreciation or exploring the work of certain composers or musical genres.

Beginner:

Usually the beginner lessons are for younger students (but not always!) aiming for grades 1-3. These lessons focus on coordination, timing, and understanding musical notation.

Intermediate:

At the intermediate level (grades 3-5) we progress to raising levels of music appreciation, whilst developing further fine motor skills to enhance performance dynamics.

Advanced:

I help students at grades 6-8 to excel because of my extensive qualifications and experience. Lessons can enhance performance for GCSE and A-Level music students. Moreover, this level is often the opening to a new musical freedom, rather than the end of your journey.

Diploma:

For Diploma level students it is more of a question of working together. My role becomes that of a mentor and guide, helping students explore their own areas of interest, and challenging them with new perspectives to enhance their abilities.
